2-day live SuperPod aiming to raise money for Sport Relief

SuperPod 2020 will bring together podcasters from all over the country to the city for a special weekend of live podcasts.

This ambitious charity event will take place the weekend prior to Sport Relief, on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th March 2020 and will be held at The Social in Southampton. There will be free entry to the venue during the day, with a ticket only show from 7pm.

Tickets are available now at, with all of the ticket price going to Sport Relief.

For those who cannot attend the event SuperPod 2020 will also be streamed live online, with streaming website TuneIn making it available on all smart speakers. Plus, with the support of Solent University’s Sonar Television, the whole event will also be broadcast on Facebook Live.

Podcaster Al Galpin is the organiser of the event. Back in 2017 he organised the first Superpod, a 36 hour non-stop live broadcast from the Grand Harbour Hotel that raised over £1,000 for Comic Relief. He hopes that this, the second such event, will make even more money.

“We’re going to be putting on 10 hours worth of live podcasts each day, with lots of special guests. We’d love to see as many people come and have a drink, enjoy a podcast or two and donate some money to a worthwhile cause.”

2019 British Podcast Award nominee Desert Island Dicks will be headlining the Saturday night. The show is a twist on the popular Desert Island Discs radio show, instead guests name the worst people and items to be marooned on a desert island with. The show will be supported by SportSpiel, the players podcast, who will be bringing along some sporting guests for a live interview.

On Sunday the headline act is Life Goals with Theo Delaney, a Football podcast unlike any other. Instead of pontificating about the week’s fixtures, the well known football fan guest will talk about the eight most emotionally significant goals of their lives. And the Sunday support act will be The Dredgeland Podcast Spectacular, a comedy double act whose brand of bizarre sketch comedy was one of the standout shows from SuperPod 2017.

In total there are 15 different podcasts taking part including Football Book Club (one of Esquire’s Best Podcasts of 2019), Anything But Footy (the Olympic & Paralympic Podcast) and What’s Your Favourite? amongst others.
